Save SoundCloud tracks as FLAC: lossless audio in a smaller file than WAV. Paste a link and get a FLAC file with the song title and cover art, ready for your music library.
Link to FLAC
The SoundCloud to FLAC converter runs online, so there is no software to install. It takes about a minute.
Open the track on SoundCloud and copy its link from the address bar, or tap Share and then Copy link in the app.
Paste the link at the top of this page and press Convert. The track loads with its cover art and length.
FLAC is already selected. Press download and the lossless file is saved to your device, named after the song.
File size
FLAC keeps exactly the same sound as WAV, but packs it smaller, like a ZIP file for audio. Here is how big a 4-minute SoundCloud track is in each format.
Smallest file. Fine for phones and earbuds.
Highest MP3 bitrate, but still lossy.
Lossless. Same sound as WAV, about a third smaller.
Lossless and uncompressed. The largest file.
We measured these sizes on real tracks. FLAC compression depends on the music, so most songs end up 30 to 40% smaller than the same song in WAV.
Compatibility
FLAC is widely supported today, with a few exceptions worth knowing before you convert a whole library.
Windows 10 and 11
Opens in Media Player and File Explorer with no extra codec.
Plays
Mac
Plays in Finder and QuickTime. The Apple Music app does not import FLAC, so use VLC or another player.
Plays, not in Apple Music
iPhone and iPad
Plays in the Files app. The Apple Music app can't add FLAC to your library.
Plays in Files
Android
Supported by Android and by most music player apps.
Plays
VLC and foobar2000
Both play FLAC on every platform and show the embedded cover art.
Plays
Rekordbox, Serato and newer CDJs
Supported in Rekordbox, Serato DJ Pro and recent CDJ models. Some older DJ players can't read FLAC.
Mostly
Car stereos and old MP3 players
Many can't play FLAC. Use MP3 for these instead.
Often not
Why SCSaver
Converting to FLAC is easy to get wrong. Here is what SCSaver does for every FLAC download.
Every file is properly encoded FLAC with a correct header, so players and DJ software read its length and quality without errors.
The SoundCloud artwork is embedded in the FLAC file, so it shows up in VLC, foobar2000, Android players and DJ apps.
No more track_1234.flac. The file name and title tag match the song, so your library stays easy to search.
We save FLAC at 16-bit, the same as a CD. Extra bits would only make the file bigger without adding any detail.
The SoundCloud to FLAC conversion runs on our servers. Use it in any browser on Windows, Mac or Linux.
Even when the artist turned off the download button, a public SoundCloud track can be converted to FLAC.

Guide
FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec. It compresses audio the way a ZIP file compresses documents: the file gets smaller, but nothing is thrown away. When you play it, you hear exactly what a WAV file would give you. That is why FLAC is the favourite format for people who collect music.
A FLAC file is a perfect copy of its source. On SoundCloud, that source is the stream SoundCloud plays, which is already compressed. So converting SoundCloud to FLAC keeps every bit of the stream with no extra loss, but it can't restore detail that the stream doesn't have. Be wary of any site that promises "studio" or "HD" FLAC from SoundCloud.
If you edit, re-encode or convert a track later, an MP3 loses a little more quality each time. A FLAC file never does. It is the safest format to archive a track you care about, and you can always make an MP3 from it later.
Both sound identical. FLAC is about a third smaller and stores cover art and tags reliably, so it is better for a home library. WAV is the safer pick for older DJ gear and some studio tools. You can choose either in the same converter.
Full playlists download as a ZIP of MP3 files, to keep large downloads fast. To build a FLAC collection from a playlist, open the tracks you want one by one on this page and save each one as FLAC.
Use FLAC downloads for personal listening and only for music you are allowed to keep, such as free releases and your own uploads. If an artist sells lossless files, buying them gives you the original master and supports their work.
Copy the track link on SoundCloud, paste it at the top of this page and press Convert. FLAC is already selected, so just press download to save the file.
FLAC is part of the Supporter pass, a one-time payment that starts at $3. MP3 downloads at 128kbps are free and need no account.
You get a lossless copy of the SoundCloud stream, with nothing lost in the conversion. The original master file is only available if the artist offers it through their own download button.
16-bit at the same sample rate as the SoundCloud source, usually 44.1 kHz. That is CD quality and keeps everything the stream contains.
Around 6 to 7 MB per minute. A 4-minute track is roughly 27 MB, compared with about 42 MB for the same track as WAV.
Playlists download as a ZIP of MP3 files. To get FLAC, convert the tracks you want one at a time on this page.
Yes, in the Files app. The Apple Music app does not support FLAC, so if you want songs in Apple Music, download them as MP3 instead.
Yes. SoundCloud accepts FLAC uploads, which is a good choice for artists. It still compresses the file for streaming, which is why listeners only get the streaming quality.
Rekordbox, Serato and newer CDJs read FLAC fine. If you play on older CDJs or are not sure what the venue has, WAV is the safer choice.
