SoundCloud lets each artist decide. When downloads are turned on, a Download file option appears in the track's More menu on the website. Most artists leave it off, which is why people use a SoundCloud download tool like SCSaver to save public tracks.
There is no official SoundCloud download app for Windows that saves files. The easiest way is your browser: open this page in Chrome, Edge or Firefox, paste the track link and the file goes to your Downloads folder.
On a Mac, paste the link in Safari, Chrome or Firefox and the song is saved to Downloads. MP3 files can be dragged straight into the Music app. For FLAC, use a player like VLC, since the Music app doesn't support it.
Choose MP3 for phones, cars and everyday listening. Choose WAV if you are a DJ or producer working in Rekordbox, Serato, Ableton or FL Studio. Choose FLAC to keep lossless files in a smaller size. All three are made from the same public stream.
